Mohan Krishna (Ajith Kumar) is an orphan who runs an auto workshop, along with his friend Aravind (Rahul Dev). He falls in love with Madhavi (Amy Jackson), who initially treats him as her servant, but they eventually fall in love. Madhavi's father is the police commissioner Satya Prakash (Prabhu) and he is also looking for her daughter's marriage proposal. Mohan keeps in touch with her, and one day he is annoyed by the police commissioner's interference which he suspects to be a pre-meditated way of getting Madhavi to marry him. His friend Aravind lends him a gun, and he shoots the policeman in front of them. Aravind and Mohan get arrested. The film continues with the flashback still showing Mohan, Madhavi and her father during Diwali celebrations. While celebrating, Madhavi sees Mohan coming when she tries to escape from her father when she sees that her grandmother’s name was written on his shirt. Her father then asks her to pay the money that her husband will demand for letting her go. Mohan saves her by taking an arrow (at the end of the film it is believed that he used the same gun). He then explains that he was upset with Satya Prakash, and told him that if he had a daughter she would be married to a man like him. The main plot begins when Mohan is arrested, but Madhavi tells Satya Prakash that Mohan is innocent and shows them his arrest record. Satya Prakash gets angry on seeing Mohan’s arrest record, and rushes to get Madhavi married off. Aravind and his partner Ravi (Ravi Kale), who is Mohan’s friend, plan to rob a bank with the help of Mohan’s information.
